Meet Rowan

I am Rowan Dowgert, owner and founder of Great Waves Grant Writing, a queer-owned business focused on building community, collaboration, and the art of storytelling that allows organizations to thrive through grant writing and research.

I earned my B.A. in Women's Studies in 2016 from the University of Victoria, igniting a passion for Indigenous activism and love for the Pacific Northwest where I now reside. Since then, my career has focused on social justice, community care, and increasing access to vital services and social support.

In December 2024 I received my Certificate in Grant Writing from Spark the Fire Grant Writing which taught me how to research various kinds of grants, how to match them with your organization’s needs, and how to craft a compelling grant proposal. When I'm not working, I love exploring fiber arts such as knitting, crocheting, and spinning yarn, as well as getting out and connecting with nature.

Storytelling is a powerful conduit for connecting communities. It allows us to share our histories, bring people together, and increase understanding. Grant writing is crafting relationships between organizations and grantees through storytelling. Let's work together to get your stories told.

I can help.

Research Potential Grants

Not sure what kind of grant to apply to? I can match your organization and programs to various grants so you can focus on the work of applying.

Draft Grant Proposals

Grant proposals can be a time-consuming process. Free up time to continue doing the important community work while I manage and write the proposals.

Review Grants

Every grant needs at least one extra set of eyes before submission.
